1994 May Study Tour to Hokkaido Community College/Takushoku University, Japan by Canadian students and faculty from Agriculture, Business and Early Childhood Education, a member of the UCFV Board of Governors, a member of the International Education Department and participants from the community
1994 August 3 week Summer Study Tour from Hokkaido Community College to UCFV
1994 November  Establishment of UCFV's formal "twinning" agreement with Takushoku University/ Hokkaido Community College, and the establishment of regular exchange opportunities for faculty and students

1997 Winter Professor Satoshi Kotaki, Director of International Exchanges, Hokkaido Community College teaches Japanese Studies in UCFV's winter semester
1997 Spring 4 UCFV students (Asia Pacific funding) and ESL Teacher, Linda Brown, to Hokkaido Community College and City of Fukagawa for 2 months

3 Abbotsford and Chilliwack High School Students visit and attend school in Fukagawa for 6 weeks 

1997 Summer Fukagawa International Friendship Society sends High School Student group (10) to Chilliwack School District for 1 week
1997 August  Second delegation from City of Fukagawa International Committee visits Fraser Valley and UCFV to hold discussions on "sister city" proposal

1997 November 3 Abbotsford's Board of School Trustees carried a motion offering Support for a Sister City Agreement between Fukagawa, Japan and Abbotsford, B.C.
1997 November City council of Abbotsford, B.C. adopts motion to "twin" with Fukagawa, Hokkaido

1998

1998 May 13 Memorandum for the Twinning of Fukagawa City, Hokkaido, Japan and the City of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada signed in Abbotsford by the Friendship exchange mission group led by the Deputy Mayor, Ryoichi Ohnishi, who represents Junkichi Kawano, the Mayor of Fukagawa City and by Abbotsford's Mayor George F. Ferguson
1998 May 19 Inaugural Meeting for Canada Japan Friendship Association (of the Fraser Valley) headed by Osamu Kasahara and George Tough 
1998 Spring  5 UCFV students (4 Asia Pacific funding, 1 personal) and ESL Teacher, Jon Shanks to Hokkaido Community College and City of Fukagawa for 2 months

UCFV Cooperative Education places 2 International Internship students with Fukagawa Hospital/City of Fukagawa for 4 month work experience

1998 July Fukagawa Friendship Society sends 8 High School students and 2 teachers to Abbotsford School District for 2 weeks

1999 Summer UCFV's Professor David Wyatt of UCFV Prof. of anthropology, Cheryl Dahl - Director of Students Services, and Suzan Badgely all teach in Fukagawa
1999 July 27 Abbotsford School District (Kathy O'Hare) hosts a two week visit by three junior high and 7 high school students sent by the Fukagawa International Friendship Society.  Teachers Mr. Hirofumi Kitagawa a Fukagawa East high teacher and Ms. Yukiko Kamigaki are leaders.
1999 August 9 Fukagawa sends a significant display for Abbotsford's Agricultural Show.

Madelaine Hardin of UCFV hosts the farewell BBQ for the Fukagawa High School students.

1999 August 23 Fukagawa college students arrive in Abbotsford for two weeks of study. Ten students and two leaders on the annual program. Linda Toews of UCFV is making plans for college students. 
1999 August 27 Madelaine will host another BBQ for the Fukagawa Takushoku students. 
1999 August 31 Three bureaucrats (Deputy Directors) from Fukagawa visited Abbotsford on a study tour. Kenji Kobayashi; Kiyomitsu Arai; Mituo Sakamoto - initial organization by the CJFA.
1999 Fall Satoshi Kotaki of the Fukagawa International Friendship Association reports that Since 1990, More than 100 people from Fukagawa have visited Abbotsford and nearly 70 people from the valley have visited Fukagawa. 
1999 Fall Hokkaido Community College/Takushoku University Early Childhood Education and Music Faculty Member (and Homestay Coordinator for visiting UCFV students in Japan) Hiryuki Domon is a visiting scholar at UCFV
1999 October Aird Flavelle of the Canada Japan Friendship Association presented a paper in Fukagawa to the Hokkaido Association of Sister Cities
1999 December 07 Canada-Japan Friendship Association organizes an Anniversary Celebration to commemorate the anniversary of Abbotsford's Sister-City Relationship with Fukagawa.

2000

2000 Spring Proposal for accreditation of Hokkaido Study Tour submitted by UCFV International Education Department to Dean of Arts at UCFV.
2000 May 25 Toireasa Strong, Abbotsford City's Director of Administration undertook a one week survey tour of Fukagawa sponsored by Abbotsford's Canada Japan Friendship Association
2000 August 7 Mayor Kawano led a delegation from Fukagawa to fulfill our mutual commitment to exchange top-level delegations every two years. Mayor of Fukagawa and community delegates including HCC/Takushoku University visit Abbotsford for 1 week.
2000 Spring UCFV Business Instructor Michael McColl teaches Canadian Studies & Business at HCC. No UCFV students go this year.
2000 Summer 9 HCC/Takushoku University Early Childhood Education / Agriculture / Economic students and 2 faculty members at UCFV for 3 weeks.
2000 November 28 Canada-Japan Friendship Association organizes an Anniversary Celebration to commemorate the anniversary of Abbotsford's Sister-City Relationship with Fukagawa.

2001

2001 January 14 Abbotsford High School Student goes to Fukagawa.  LLaesa Brownridge in Fukagawa for 3 months.  Sayaka Ikeda returns for two weeks in May.  Visit organized through UCFV International Education
