Notes: Canada's most geographically diverse province. It contains mountains, coastline, dense rainforests, and the country's only true desert. More than 90% of the land is owned by the provincial government. Stanley Park in Vancouver is one of the largest urban parks and covers more than 400 hectares (1000 acres). BC has the greatest diversity of birds in mammals of any Canadian provinces, including 44 of Canada's 578 birds species.

Vancouver hosted the World Expo in 1986. Victoria hosted the 1994 Commonwealth Games.
